Lake Nixon
Outdoor Center
The Lake Nixon Outdoor Center is a beautiful, 220-acre property on the western (west-southwest) edge of Little Rock. Its mission is to care for the gift of this place and to provide opportunities for our community to experience God through recreation, education, and sanctuary.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its role in a landmark U.S. Supreme Court Civil Rights decision in the late 1960s, Second Baptist purchased Lake Nixon in 1969, thanks to the sacrificial gifts of congregational leaders.
Second Baptist Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is open from 9am – 12pm on Wednesdays.
We are a client-choice pantry serving residents living in the 72201 and 72202 zip code areas.
If you are seeking services, please bring ID for every person in your household (state issued ID/driver's license/student ID/birth certificate/social security card) and proof of address (copy of lease/mortgage or 2 pieces of mail). Clients of the food pantry are able to access food a maximum of once-a-month.
We have many volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to participate in. If you would like to volunteer with us, we ask that you please fill out our Volunteer Interest Form. A member of our staff will contact you to follow up on your application.
There are multiple ways you can donate to support our efforts in fighting food insecurity. Click the link to donate financially. If you would like to donate in-kind, we are currently accepting unexpired shelf-stable food, new hygiene items, and toiletries. Donations can be dropped off during our church’s normal business hours (Monday – Thursday, 8:30am – 4:30pm).
